Lesson overview
This A2+ Standard lesson turns an authentic hotel-room tour into a practical communication task. Students begin by discussing what matters when they stay in a hotel, then build concrete accommodation vocabulary through clear visuals and natural travel situations. They watch short excerpts from the source video for gist, location details, room advantages, the speaker's observed problems, the price stated in the video, and the speaker's final overall judgement.
The language stage keeps there is / there are and has / have in a wider communicative frame. Students use these forms to describe what a room has, locate facilities, and express a simple judgement. They then compare three original fictional room listings and recommend the best room for a guest with particular needs.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the lesson, students can:
Use hotel-room vocabulary in realistic travel situations.
Listen for the main idea and selected details in short source-video clips.
Describe facilities, locations, advantages, and possible problems.
Recommend a room for a guest and justify the choice.
